Columns:
Glulam columns, either square or rectangular in cross-section, are subjected to stresses primarily in axial tension or compression and are most effectively manufactured with lumber of uniform grade. While we can produce glulam with many different grades of lumber, higher-strength lumber intended to reduce the cross-sectional dimensions of the member will have a higher cost and may be subject to longer lead times to gather wood of this grade.


Unbalanced Beams
Unbalanced beams are intended for use in simple-span applications loaded in positive bending, producing the greatest tension stress on the bottom of the beam. To resist such stresses, unbalanced beams are manufactured with the highest-strength laminations on the bottom of the member. Importantly, the asymmetry of unbalanced beams results in a significantly reduced bending capacity if installed upside down—the top side of the beam is indicated with a stamp.

Balanced Beams
Balanced beams are intended for use in multi-span or cantilevered applications. As either the top or bottom of the member are stressed in tension due to applied loads, balanced beams are manufactured with high-strength tension laminations on both the top and bottom.

Standard depths are in multiples of the standard lamination thickness:

Douglas Fir: 1-1/2 inches 
Alaskan Cedar: 1-1/2 inches 
Southern Pine: 1-3/8 inches

Glulam depths can be a minimum of (2) laminations, although our standard depths start at a minimum of (4) laminations. Our maximum standard glulam depth is 72 inches. Please contact us for information about producing glulam up to a maximum depth of 118 inches. 

Timberlab produces glulam in standard cross-section sizes. These sizes conform to standard sizes in the NDS up to 16 inches nominal width using either single or multiple-piece laminations (split laminations). The split lamination widths are based on the total laminating lumber widths in a layer minus an allowance to account for planning each side face after pressing to the finished width.

Timberlab can manufacture glulam up to 30 inches wide.

SHOCK CONTROL® is a flexible, self-adhesive, fiberglass reinforced sheet for porcelain pavers. It is applied to the back of the paver to increase the mechanical strength of thefinished raised floor. Its structure prevents pavers from collapsing.
This solution is primarily intended to hold together pieces of any broken paver and providetemporary support, should a person be standing on a paver at the time of breakage. It caneasily be removed and replaced since the fragments do not leave the site and the entire paverdo not lose its shape after its damage.

Steel Tray Paver Support are made of galvanized steel sheets with downturned edges of 3/8"on the four sides, they are double folded to empower the underside of the 3/4" thick paversand grant them an extra strength.

The galvanized metal tray will act as an additional support in the case where a tile is cracked.For proper installation follow the 3 steps below:
1. Ensure both the inside of the tray and bottom side of the tile are clean.
2. Apply an exterior construction adhesive to the tray. 1 bead of glue ever 3" O.C. is recommended.
3. Gently place the tile into the tray and press down firmly.

The FRP Support Tray is to be placed on top of the pedestals. Pedestals are recommended to be spaced 2' on center. The tray is free floating and does not need to be screwed to the pedestal unlessthere is a concern for uplift. The pavers are then placed on top of the tray to the desired pattern. The pavers must be glued to the tray to stop any potential movement. Spacers are recommended to be used when setting the pavers on the tray to keep a consistent joint width. We recommend the Cityscape DSG40 spacer, however a standard tile spacer could be used as well.

The LevelPro Pedestal is used for wood decking applications. The wood joist headpiece on the LevelPro pedestals allows for a standard pressure treated wood joist to be securely fastened (screwed) into the side. Decking can be laid directly on top and screwed in to the wood joists using a hidden fastener or directly through the board.

The Cityscape Aluminum Rail System is designed for two main purposes, but is not limited to these applications:

• Installation of plank style and irregular shaved pavers.
• Additional structural support for the pedestal system.

It is a modular rail support system that clips into the Crossrail Headpiece which is used on the LevelPro pedestal. This ensures the rail is securely attached to the pedestal and cannot easily be removed. the Top Rail Headpiece is then attached to the top of the rail and can freely slide up and down depending on the size of your paver, tile, or stone material.

The rails can be easily cut onsite to fabricate to exact lengths needed in certain areas. Each rail is joined
together using the joist connectors which are inserted into each end. The rails are lightweight,
easy to handle, and reduce the amount of pedestals needed.

Hinoki cypress wood (Chamaecyparis obtusa) is an aromatic and rot-resistant lumber species native to central and southern Japan. With an even blonde color and clear tight grain, hinoki has versatile uses in both interior and exterior applications, whether finished with oil or left uncoated.

The wood's straight grain, light color, and luxe planed sheen make it an ideal aesthetic material for wall, floor, and ceiling surfaces. At the same time, it demonstrates strength and flexion resistance against earthquakes, and has been utilized historically for pagoda and other sacred building structural timbers. Hinoki wood is revered for its aromatic compounds (including alpha-terpineol and limonene) which provide its incense-like fragrance while also serving as natural defenses against insects.
