Our client was operating both D11 and D10 Caterpillar dozers, on which they carried out scheduled maintenance.
Of course, uneven and slippery surfaces on these machines can create a dangerous scenario for potential falls and injury. And some of the most dangerous surfaces were those that needed standing on, to reach critical points of maintenance.
SafeSmart Access was commissioned to design and build a customized platform to keep workers of engine cowls, tracks and more. Loosely based on a standard line product—the Super Maintenance Platform (SMP)—the dozer access platform is easily wheeled up to the vehicle, with a cantilevered standing area that hangs well-balanced over protrusions.
This system is made form high-tensile aluminum for light weight portability and weather resistance.
