Stone Farm is the nationwide leader in reclaimed stone and brick building materials. We love finding new things...specifically unique and reclaimed building materials. We are a team of experts, treasure hunters and curators who source pieces of history for in and around your home. Whether it is a street in Europe, the Big Dig in Boston, an old school house or mill, we scour the world to find, harvest and re-purpose distinctive building materials, such as natural stone and reclaimed thin brick veneer, for your project.
Reclaimed Thin Brick Veneer
Salvaged from old factories, mills, and schools around New England, this blend is an ideal accent material. The color is made up of the deep reds and terracotta oranges found in the Northeast — however, we mix in white tones and blackened “soot stained" pieces as a result of fire damage and natural weathering.

Thin Brick Installation Guide
Our Antique Grey thin brick is a great blend if you are looking for a darker grey blend. As gray clay is most readily found in the southwest region of China along the banks of the Yangtze River, Stone Farm has partnered with reclamation teams in that area to bring this new product to America. Not recommended for floor applications.

Our New England Mill Blend Floor Tile is cut from the same bricks as our New England Mill Blend wall veneer. The difference is that we cut the top of the brick (rather than the face). As this is where the mortar lay, you can get more 'whites/greys'. The larger surface area is more consistent with traditional brick floors.

Thin Brick Installation Guide
Swatches of our thin brick veneer are one thing, but this timeless material really comes to life when installed. Light and mortar choices have a huge effect on how this "perfectly imperfect" brick brings life to a space. From breweries to offices, kitchens to foyers, man caves to bathrooms... we probably have a picture!
Visit our Project Area to see galleries of how customers have used our thin brick in their homes, or how architects have designed our blends into restaurants and commercial spaces.
Why add a different paint color, when you can add history! With brick veneer you can add rich texture and design in any room as an accent wall. Looking to make a statement in your house - adding an old brick wall will do the trick. The best part is that our reclaimed thin brick veneer is cut to 1/2" thick, so you don't need a structural wall to obtain the look. Click here to see our Reclaimed Brick Options and to order samples.
A splash of history and color for kitchens. Interior brick veneer backsplashes add color, texture and dimension to a room. As our thin brick tile is cut to only 1/2" thickness, you can install the material just like any other backsplash tile. If red is not the look you want, our vicerage grey thin brick veneer is becoming our most popular choice for kitchen backsplashes. Click here to see our Reclaimed Brick Color Options.
Large pieces of granite look bad-ass as a Hearth and/or lintel. Reclaimed thin brick veneer is an excellent material for interior projects such as fireplaces. Check these out. Click here to see our interior brick choices and order samples.
We have all been in that classic bar, or amazing wine cellar that surrounds you with historic brick walls. This is why reclaimed thin brick veneer is the perfect feel for your wine or Beer cellar. We also have thin cut European Cobblestones that look great for your wine cellar floor tile! Click here to see our Reclaimed Brick Options.
From walls to larger projects, reclaimed brick adds a beautiful design to commercial spaces. You may have seen our reclaimed thin brick veneer in notable spaces such as Margaritaville, Patagonia stores, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse restaurants, and Timberland stores.
Reclaimed Cobblestones
Typically sourced throughout the Northeast, these cobbles are named after our first reclamation that came from the old streets of Boston. We still harvest in this area today. Often quarried from multiple locations, this material offers a unique range of color, from weathered grays to tan with underlying earth tones. This warm patina, combined with a worn, smooth texture that only time can develop, provide a look not found with new materials.
Specifications ( Approx.)
DimensionsRegulation - 8" L x 4.5" W x 5" T
Jumbo - 11" L x 4.5" W x 8" T
The worn patina and subtle colors and textures of Antique Cobblestones speak of a rich, timeless history. Whether harvested directly from an old street or town in America, to a quaint village in Europe, these cobblestones have a story to tell and a history to be discovered and preserved.
Sizing
The size and shape of Reclaimed Cobblestone Pavers are instrumental in determining the design or layout. For example, achieving the classic running bond pattern is easier with rectangles, while squares and cubes offer more flexibility in design and are more suited for fan type patterns.
Thickness
Full Bed - approximately 6"- 7"
Half Bed - approximately 2.5"- 3.5" ( European Only )
Sliced - approximately 1.25"- 2.25" ( European Only )
Thickness is primarily determined by both the installation method and type of use. A full bed cobble might be more suited to a dry-laid motor court, whereas a sliced cobble might be the perfect fit for a walkway set in a mortar bed.
Colors/Origins
The type of stone determines the color of Reclaimed Cobblestones. The effects of wear and tear enhance the overall look by adding new color tones over time, adding that magical patina that makes this material so unique. Colors range from classic New England earthy salt and pepper to the deep blues, reds and greens of Belgian Porphyry.
Belgian Porphyry is referred to as “the Belgian block" and is known for its exceptional hardness and durability. These stones were incredibly fashionable during the 19th and early 20th century and were commonly used in well-known city centers of affluence including Champs-Elysees in Paris, various New York City Avenues and Saint Petersburg in Russia. These cobbles offer beautiful combinations of coloring; green-brown, brown-rusty, green-blue, rusty-red and blue. Shapes include both squares and rectangles.

Belgian Sandstone is a very hard and resistant sandstone cobble quarried in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries in the Walloon region of Belgium. This cobblestone offers a generally smooth and well-worn top face. Colors vary from brown over grey to earthy green as well as lavender. Colors in cobblestones contained within a specific batch offer similar characteristics.

Whether breaking up an asphalt driveway, or creating scale for a large stone cobblestone driveway, implementing stone borders or inlays do the trick.
Cobblestone aprons have become very popular over the past two decades as it is often the first area people see as they enter your property. For classic and antique homes, reclaimed cobblestones tend to complement the property.
For a bigger statement, people are now using our paving grade curbing as either or both an apron, or for borders and inlays.
Antique Brick Pavers
Brick pavers have been around since the early 19th century. At Stone Farm we harvest our antique brick pavers from streets and prepare them for resale. Each antique brick paver has an authentic and worn surface, but remains more durable than a concrete paver. Our pavers are naturally waterproof and come in a range of colors from tan to red to burnt orange. They are timeless and ideal for commercial and home use.
Brick Pavers vs. Building Brick
Brick pavers are different from building bricks. Antique brick pavers are acquired from streets, sidewalks or plazas, whereas building bricks are harvested from old buildings and walls. Brick pavers are specifically designed/manufactured to take vehicular weight, and are able to withstand freeze thaw cycles. Whereas the building bricks we reclaimed from factories and schoolhouses, would ultimately fail if laid in the ground.
Brick Paver Patios & Pathways
The worn patina of antique brick pavers adds instant history to patios, driveways and walkways. The patterns your mason chooses also work to create an authentic feeling that completes the aesthetic of your home, garage or barn.
Reclaimed natural stone offers permeability to landscape design, but don't forget the versatility of antique brick as an option for courtyards, patios and paths! Brick pavers are chameleons that can lend "farmhouse" or "cottage" style to landscape design, or tend the opposite way toward "chic urban" style.
Antique Bluestone Paving & Sidewalks
Originally quarried for the most part in New York, we salvaged our antique bluestone from sidewalks in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, bringing the deep blue and grey tones of this classic material to our yard in Monroe, CT. Whether you want classic, modern or rustic design, this historic paving stone will bring richness and depth to your backyard landscape design.

While new sandstone is currently being quarried with a smaller format, our super sourcers have salvaged an amazing supply of 4' x 6' reclaimed sandstone slabs. We continuously scour the U.S. to make sure we can always provide these uniquely large sizes.
Visit the Stone Farm to experience these and other Ginormous Stones™ in person.
From rich greys to deep blues, our antique bluestone works beautifully for patios that range from elegant to rustic. The familiar natural cleft texture has been foot worn over time to a smoothness that feels historic from the moment they're laid.
Antique Sandstone Paving & Sidewalk
Our reclaimed sandstone slabs have warm beige tones and a sandy texture that has been worn to perfection. These slabs tend to have a consistent thickness that makes for easy installation and level surfaces.
With an equal historic pedigree, the warmer beige tones of these sandstone sidewalk slabs salvaged from Ohio and Pennsylvania neighborhoods come in game-changing sizes. The walk worn finish and lighter colors make perfect "modern rustic" pool decks or sprawling outdoor dining areas. From rustic to refined, sandstone adapts well with many designs.

"Modern Rustic" combines modern design styles with rustic finishes to create pleasing lineal landscaping elements that retain the warmth and richness of historic materials. For customers looking to balance their interest in green energy and materials, reclaimed stone offers the double-bonus of being "reused" with a look that can gives depth to the clean, striking lines and finishes of modern architecture.

Antique Granite Paving
Granite. The word alone implies durability and an immovable solidity. It's been used in building for thousands of years worldwide, including the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Wall of China, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art! We've salvaged thousands of square feet of granite paving and curbing for use in patios, walkways, driveways and other paving projects.
Our granite planks & squares feature two top finishes. A rougher, chiseled bush hammered surface, or a more even flat/sawn surface. Both are beautiful and work well with each other to create interesting textural patterns and contrasts.
Reclaimed Granite Curbing
Reclaimed granite curbing makes a great enhancement to a landscape project. Stone Farm has many products that are created from curbing.
Typical Dimensions
Curbing comes in a variety of dimensions and lengths, we typically see this material in the following dimensions:
Junior Curbing: 4-6" x 9-12" x 24-48" lengths
Standard Curbing: 6-8" x 16-18" x 3'- 8'+ lengths
Granite has been used as curbing for over 100 years. The first generation of curb was primarily made with hand tools, which is why the resulting material has a hand-hewn, almost natural look and feel. In the last 50 years, curbing has been produced in a more mechanized fashion, resulting in a more uniform look and feel.
Like so many different granite products, reclaimed and salvaged curbing comes from a variety of quarries creating many color variations. In general, curbing is made from gray granites that range from lighter colors to almost charcoal. Years of wear, combined with exposure to natural elements, gives this material its earth tone color palette. Ask us what colors are available for specific applications.

Reclaimed granite curbing makes a great enhancement to a landscape project. Stone Farm has many products that are created from curbing.
Reclaimed Stone Wall Blocks
Hammering large pieces of granite into building blocks has been a part of New England's history for hundreds of years. These blocks were used to build railroad trestles, bridges, sea walls, cellar foundations and as the walls of many early American industrial buildings. As these structures are retired from service, Stone Farm harvests their beautiful blocks and re-purposes them for many different applications.
The sizes and weights of these large stone wall blocks make them ideal when building a retaining wall or sea wall. Sometimes their shapes also lends itself naturally to not only act as a retaining wall, but as a seat wall. It is becoming more common to see individual pieces scattered throughout parks and rail trails, serving as a perfect stone bench!
Most of the granite block we harvest today originates from one of the numerous granite quarries scattered throughout New England. Through years of weathering, these quarries produced granite in various shades of gray, blended with underlying earth tones. Combined with a slightly rough, split face, textured surface, the end result is a unique color palette that can't be replicated elsewhere.
Granite Stone Wall Blocks were fabricated in a variety of shapes and sizes. Throughout New England you may notice blocks ranging from 18-24" tall by 2'-8' long. These dimensionally shaped blocks often originate from railroad and bridge piers. Cellars were often constructed from more semi-dimensional material; blocks with varied heights and lengths. Stone Farm harvests and sorts this material to these various dimensions.
Located right outside Boston, the Charlestown Bridge was one of two extremely unusual swing bridges in Boston. The city decided the best way to address these rare old landmarks was to remove them. The bridge was constructed in 1905 making it a 115 year old bridge!
When we saw our chance to save yet another piece of Bostons beautiful history we couldn't resist. We are super excited to be able to share this great news with our community. We have salvage nearly 4000 granite blocks from the bridges 9 piers, all great for benches, stone retaining walls and more!

Stone Farm creates its wall stone blend from a variety of reclaimed materials. Depending on the desired look we mix granite blocks, reclaimed curbing, cobblestones and even old building parts. Pieces range in size from 2x3′ down to jumbo cobblestones. This mix of materials make a truly unique and distinctive wall.
Antique Stone Veneer
Stone veneer is made from natural stone found throughout the world. Unlike modern stone veneer which is typically quarried and freshly fabricated, we scour the country looking for old buildings which were built using stone veneer in the past. Each load of stone veneer we bring into our yard tells a story and ultimately—once reused—restores a piece of history as it is put to a new use.
The type of stone determines the color of Reclaimed Stone. The effects of wear and tear enhance the overall look by adding new color tones over time, adding that magical patina that makes this material so unique. Colors range from classic New England earthy salt and pepper granite to the truly unique creamy whites found in marble. We salvage stone veneer across the country from places as varied as old factory buildings and historic churches.
When we heard the church of St. Josephs in the Bronx being dismantled we couldn't help but try to salvage as much as we could. The church of St. Josephs was built c. 1873 from stone quarried in the local area. The stone consists of squares and rectangles with roughly a 80/20 mix of granite and marble. This truly unique stone veneer has beautiful colors, from dark and light greys to light creamy whites.

Sustainability
Using reclaimed stone and reclaimed thin brick veneer in home, commercial and landscaping projects allows the reuse of materials without further processing, leaving it unaltered to retain its original technical and structural properties.
By purchasing natural stone, reclaimed stone and reclaimed brick products you are eligible for credits in a few different environmental improvement categories of LEED NC, the most widely used green building rating system in the US. from the US Green Building Council, including Sustainable Sites (SS), Energy and Atmosphere (EA), Materials and Resources (MR), and Innovation and Design (ID) to name a few.
We cite some examples of how reclaimed and natural stone fits into these categories below: (thanks to information from the Natural Stone Council: http://www.naturalstonecouncil.org/
SS credit 7.1 - Heat Island Effect. Use of light-colored natural stone with a solar-reflective index of 29 or greater can reduce heat-island effects. May generate a credit when using stone caps on landscaping walls, stair treads, and pavement.
EA credit 1 - Optimize Energy Performance. The thermal mass of natural stone makes it eligible for credits for materials which positively impact indoor ambient air temperature, energy efficiency. Using natural and reclaimed stone for interior wall stone veneer would be an example of this as they may aid in reducing energy consumption.
MR credits - Several may be garnered due to the durability of stone, including: Credits 2.1 & 2.2 - Construction Waste Management, divert 50-75% from disposal if “waste" stone used in construction is diverted to a beneficial use rather than disposed of.
Credits 3.1 & 3.2 - Materials Reuse, 5-10%. Apply if salvaged stone can be reused for another purpose in a building design.
Credits 5.1 & 5.2 - Regional Materials, 10-20% extracted, processed and manufactured. Apply of project uses natural stone that has been extracted, harvested or recovered within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (cost) of total materials value.

At Stone Farm, we are constantly seeking out potential reclamations that will yield antique stone building products. We were beyond excited, when we were approached with the North Washington Street Bridge (also known as the Charlestown Bridge) in Boston. A hard product to find, this bridge has thousands of stone wall blocks that where originally quarried beginning in the late 19th century. To best understand our excitement, let's take a step back in time and learn more about this iconic bridge's history.
There is a strong history between brick and beer. According to the book “The Material Culture of Breweries," the first brick brewery was built in 1893 in Grangeville, Idaho. The brewery was projected to produce 150 barrels per day. It is no surprise that some of the most famous breweries throughout time feature brick as it provides an industrial and rustic feel synonymous with breweries.
The Stone Farm team recently visited Roma Ristorante, an authentic Italian restaurant with an incredible and comforting atmosphere. As we walked in the door, we instantly felt welcome, as if we were at home. Laughs, chatter, plates of food and half-filled drinks set the tone around the bar. Some of the guests even have their “assigned" seats at the bar because they have been coming there for so long.
