Boron Filled Polyethylene Neutron Shielding, supplied by MarShield, is a lightweight, cost-effective neutron shielding solution to attenuate and absorb neutron radiation. Our borated polyethylene contains 5% (2% available on special order) boron content by weight. Used in the medical, nuclear, and industrial marketplaces borated polyethylene is ideal for medical vaults and doors, particle accelerators, hot cells, nuclear storage and transport containers, and nuclear detection systems.
MarShield can provide high density concrete blocks up to 300 pounds per cubic foot. High density concrete gives a composite shield for both neutron and gamma radiation. We offer two sizes (6" and 4") of interlocking high density blocks that interlock on all four sides preventing radiation from streaming through. An optional solid paver or multiple cavity high density CMU blocks are also available.
MarShield provides Sheet Lead with a consistent and high density manufactured from pure lead conforming to ASTM B-29, B-749 and Federal QQ-L-201F, QQ-L-171E. Rolls in 1/32'", 1/16'", 1/8'", and 1/4" thicknesses in stock in a variety of sizes.
(Also referred to as Lead Lined Sheetrock, Gyproc, Wallboard or Lead Lined Gypsum Board) Purpose: MarShield's drywall is laminated with sheet lead in order to cover necessary surfaces or walls in a room requiring radiation shielding. It is affixed to surfaces or walls ensuring a continuous layer of sheet lead under the drywall to a specified height. Standard drywall panels are available in 48″ widths with 96″ or 120″ lengths. It is available in 1/2″ to 5/8″ thickness with a lead thickness of 1/32″ to 1/8″ maximum thickness. For lead thicknesses that exceed 1/8'" please refer to our lead lined plywood.
MarShield's plywood is laminated with sheet lead to cover necessary surfaces or walls in a room requiring radiation shielding. It is affixed to surfaces or walls ensuring a continuous layer of sheet lead, under the plywood, to a specified height. The Plywood is available in 5/8'" to 3/4'" in thickness with a lead thickness of 1/16'" no less to 1/2″ maximum thickness.
MarShield carries a variety of sizes and thicknesses of lead glass that is excellent in providing radiation shielding. The material is usually placed into a lead-lined frame built into a wall or door. Lead glass is used extensively in x-ray rooms, operating theaters, radiation therapy rooms, dental clinics, veterinary clinics, laboratories and for materials testing.
MarShield''s LX-57B x-ray shielding lead glass provides excellent radiation shielding, superb visual clarity, high light transmission and does not discolour due to radiation. The hard, polished surfaces have excellent scratch resistance. LX-57B is available in thicknesses of 7mm, 9mm, 14mm, and 17mm.
MarShield''s Saf-T-Lite Radiation Protector glass comprises LX-57B lead glass, an interlayer, and float glass in a laminated sandwich to create a durable, shatter-resistant alternative to lead acrylic/plastic.
MarShield''s Pro-GR radiation shielding glass is made of glass materials having a lead oxide content rate of roughly 70% that is equivalent to ultra-high lead content block glass for nuclear power facilities. Pro-GR has a radiation shielding capability higher than that of conventional LX-57B lead glass. It is commonly used to shield gamma rays (0.511 MeV) in PET facilities.
LX Premium has a multilayer structure, manufactured by inserting LX-57B high-lead glass between panels of protective sheet glass. This results in a glass surface that will not stain or discolour, even in contact with chemicals or if it is wiped with a wet cloth.
These modular barriers and window panes provide the correct degree of radiation protection needed, while offering a distortion free panoramic viewing of the patient and equipment. These window panes are available in lead equivalencies from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm mounted in a durable, sturdy and lightweight lead-lined bottom panel with 1.5 mm lead equivalency. These booths can be fabricated into large continuous window panes-up to 6 x 8 feet or larger on special requests. Our booths are extremely easy to install in a very short and safe time frame.
MarShield offers Straight type lead bricks are used for radiation shielding when interlocking bricks will not suit your application. They can be cut on site in any direction without the fear of losing the interlocking capability. A Double row stacked behind the first in a staggered pattern can combat the loss of radiation commonly known to happen through the first row gaps.
MarShield offers interlocking Chevron style type lead bricks. These lead bricks can be easily erected, modified, disassemble and relocated in the field to create protective walls systems and cells to suit your application. The interlocking provides radiation leakage protection and a more stable and sturdier wall system aiding in the prevention of the wall toppling over. Lead-Lined Doors and Frames.
