Core of Lifting
A Konecranes gearbox is a fully-integrated core component consisting of gears, shafts, bearings and housing. Every gearbox that we produce has been designed specifically for crane applications.
Our gears have been meticulously designed down to the smallest detail to minimize cracking, tooth fracture, stress and wear. Using a complete design model, we look at the gearbox as a whole—taking into account the shaft, each individual tooth and the bearings.
We model, calculate and verify to make sure the gears have the right distribution of tooth force, resulting in a very high safety coefficient against gear tooth fracture. A smooth contact pattern minimizes pressure of parts, reducing wear and the risk of damage.
Together, the gearbox, motor and control system are what we call the Core of Lifting.
The main function of the motors on a crane is to lift and lower a load, and to move the trolley and crane along the rails that take the load to a new location.
Every Konecranes motor that we produce has been purpose-built specifically for crane applications. Each motor is a fully-integrated core component designed for the intermittent motions of hoisting or traveling in crane duty cycles.
Together, the gearbox, motor and control system are what we call the Core of Lifting.
The controls on a crane provide the user interface for lifting operations and connect the crane with its operating environment, creating a safer and more efficient material flow.
Konecranes controls are specially designed for lifting applications. An ergonomic user interface, secure connectivity to surrounding machines and Smart Features maximize safety and efficient load handling. Remote connectivity has enabled more efficient monitoring and maintenance services. It has also provided an extensive collection of data on the real-world use of cranes, providing the world's largest database of industry-leading knowledge to further optimize operational efficiency for specific applications and business needs.
Together, the gearbox, motor and control system are what we call the Core of Lifting.
