The Ascension Cycling Team is focused on providing opportunities for athletes to adapt, achieve, and connect with others. ACT is about overcoming obstacles, individually and collectively, and supporting each other along the way. It's about empowering individuals to explore themselves through competition, and discover that they can do more than they imagined. It's about breaking barriers, making connections, and encouraging people to live life on their own terms no matter what obstacles they face.
Ascension was recently pleased to sponsor the Ascension Cycling Team in partnership with Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports for the 2nd year in a row. This year, we had 43 adaptive athletes riding on our team in the 102-mile, 63-mile and 32-mile events of the 2022 El Tour de Tucson, plus another 45 or so adaptive athletes who were riding for various non-profits, for 90-plus such athletes in all. We were once again proud to support these incredible athletes as they pursue their individual goals. We did so by providing an easily accessible parking lot, 2 designated lanes for such hand-cyclists to start the race, team jerseys, as well as a celebratory Mexican food banquet, including recognition awards.
