Between-Glass Blinds

Light control is a vital factor in commercial buildings. Beyond the visual comfort of the building tenants, there are issues of cooling costs, heating costs, UV damage and the temperature comfort of the tenants.

The good news is that 1" or 5/8" mini-blinds are available from Allied Window in a system that incorporates them into our interior storm window installation. These "between-glass" blinds can be tilted using a remote control knob, while the blinds are protected from dirt and damage. They are accessible by simply removing the storm window panel. Extrusions

We have the expertise to accommodate any shape needed for virtually all of our storm window models. Tempered glass is standard in all curve top, shaped units.

Our expert bending department can match any template provided. A storm window cannot disappear into your shaped opening unless it matches the shape exactly. A considerable benefit in dealing with historical storms for as long as we have, is learning "The Art of the Bend". Allied Window stands head and shoulders above anyone when it comes to shaped windows.

One thing that Ivy League schools such as Yale and Princeton have in common is windows. This project is an example of how we were able to apply our years of experience, and further prove why we are considered the most capable storm window company in the industry. Although these schools are rivals, they share similar architectural styles. This project involves upgrading a number of buildings, which were a combination of old and new structures including dormitories, and historic lecture halls. In fact, Albert Einstein once taught in one these halls.

Architects assigned to government building projects across the United States have put their trust in our ability to meet all of their design and budgetary criteria. Our custom invisible storm windows are designed to optimize aesthetics, deliver robust performance, and facilitate a high degree of energy efficiency.

As urban areas across America change and shift, usage of many buildings has had to adjust to accommodate a new influx of city dwellers. Various types of commercial and industrial buildings, no longer viable for their intended application are being converted to modern residential spaces. The project highlighted here is an example of a major conversion that we helped to complete in Cleveland, Ohio.

Cincinnati Union Terminal has remained part of Cincinnati's heritage since 1933. First a train station, then a war zone with 3 million service men & women coming through its doors in the 1940's…then a Shopping Mall…and finally its purpose was redefined as a Museum Center. Its fate has not always been safe. With much hard work, determination and faith the dreamers, visionaries and do-ers of a dedicated Greater Cincinnati community have restored the depot of memories and history. In a $228 million renovation; architects, general contractor, builders, men and women of all trades were chosen for the task of restoring and preserving the Queen City's Union Terminal - the results…a Grand Restoration to recreate Union Terminal's original look. Allied Window, Inc was chosen to design, manufacture and install the storm windows.

Allied Window and Beacon Hill Restoration have collaborated on numerous historic house projects and museums over the years and have established a reputation as a team willing to tackle the most challenging of situations. Inherent with all our historic house restorations, is the fact that each and every window opening has its own particular issues. This Victorian home, with its typical host of different window types, presented an additional challenge for both Beacon Hill Restoration and Allied Window, as we worked through the best possible campaign to breathe new life into the original window fabric and protect the clients investment with a storm panel that offered optimal performance while highlighting its nineteenth century fenestration.
